We bring Uber drivers the latest information on where to pick-up riders from New York’s main airports.

  • LaGuardia has one waiting area to service all 4 terminals
  • At LaGuardia each terminal has a designated pick-up area
  • Newark’s waiting zone is signposted ‘The Rideshare Lot’
  • At Newark pick-ups are at the arrivals area at the terminals
  • JFK has two staging lots for Uber and TLC drivers
  • At JFK drivers can only pick up riders at the arrivals level of each terminal
  • Picking up elsewhere is forbidden and may incur fines

New York’s main airports each have designated waiting and pick-up areas for Uber and TLC drivers.

Please note: this information is correct at time of writing on April 13, 2021.

LaGuardia Waiting Area

To be eligible to receive a pick-up request, Uber and TLC drivers must enter the airport’s designated waiting lot. There is currently one designated lot (for Terminal A/B/C/D requests):

23rd Ave. and 90th St. Waiting Area

Some things for Uber drivers to know about the waiting lot queue:

  • Your location in the waiting lot doesn’t affect your position in the virtual queue
  • In the designated waiting area, you’ll be able to see your queue position and how many drivers are ahead of you in the driver app
  • You may lose your place in line if you drive outside the waiting zone

Please note that parking or idling at terminals is strictly forbidden.

LaGuardia Pick-Up Areas

Once you’ve received a pick-up request, it’s time to head to the terminal to find your rider.

  • For pickups at Terminal A, the designated pick-up area is located directly outside of, and across the street from, Terminal A.
  • For pickups at Terminal B, head to Level 2 of the Terminal B Parking Garage located directly adjacent to Terminal B. Follow the ‘Car Services’ signs in Terminal B to the pick-up area.
  • For pickups at Terminal C, head to the pick-up area located at the arrivals (ground) level. Terminal C pick-up is at the arrivals outer lane. Follow the ‘Car Services’ signs in Terminal C to the pick-up area.
  • For pickups at Terminal D, head to the pick-up area located at the arrivals (ground) level. Terminal D pick-up is at the arrivals inner lane. Follow the ‘Car Services’ signs in Terminal C to the pick-up area.

Newark Waiting Area

Uber uses one driver waiting area at Newark. It is geo-located, which means it’s the only area where you’ll receive pick-up requests. The waiting zone is signposted The Rideshare Lot (300 Scargo Earhart Dr, Newark, NJ 07114). Once here, Uber drivers receive ride requests via a virtual first-in, first-out queue.

Some things for Uber drivers to know about the first-in, first-out queue:

  • Your location in the waiting lot doesn’t affect your position in the virtual queue
  • In the designated waiting area, you’ll be able to see your queue position and how many drivers are ahead of you in the driver app
  • You may lose your place in line if you drive outside the waiting zone

Please note that parking or idling at terminals is strictly forbidden.

Newark Pick-Up Areas

Newark Airport only allows taxi pick-ups in the arrivals area at the terminals. Terminal areas can be crowded at times. Once you arrive at the pickup location, if you can’t find your rider, message or call them through the driver app to let them know where you’re waiting.

From April 5, 2021, a $2.50 per-trip Airport Access Fee will apply for all for-hire vehicle drop-offs and pick-ups. For more information, click here.

JFK Waiting Area

To receive pickup requests at the airport, drivers need to enter one of the designated For Hire Vehicle staging lots: the Cell Phone Lot or the Limo Lot. Uber drivers can wait in either area to receive the same ride offers.

Once you are in a staging lot, you’ll receive ride requests via a virtual first-in, first-out queue. Both waiting areas have free parking for up to 3 hours

JFK Pick-Up Areas

Uber drivers are only allowed to pick up riders at the arrivals level of each terminal. You cannot pick up passengers elsewhere, including the terminal drop-off zones. For Terminals 1-4, pull up outside arrivals. For Terminal 5, pull up outside at departures level.
