Where are the riders in the UK? October 2020

At INSHUR we look for ways to help Uber drivers make more money – revealing the best places to find riders is one of them. But as many events have been cancelled this year due to COVID-19, identifying reliable rider hotspots and pickup locations has become a bit of a guessing game for private hire drivers.

Due to the Government’s rule of six in England, certain conferences, exhibitions and sporting events are unable to run with physical attendance this month.

The following information is correct at the time of writing on 1st October. But before you go, be sure to check the latest on local restrictions from official government sources: EnglandScotland and Wales.

10 pm Curfew

Across England, the following businesses and venues must close from 10pm to 5am:

  • All hospitality businesses and venues
  • Bowling alleys
  • Amusement arcades or other indoor leisure centres or facilities (excluding indoor gyms and fitness studios)
  • Funfairs (indoors or outdoors), theme parks and adventure parks and activities
  • Bingo halls

Cinemas, theatres and concert halls can stay open past 10.00pm to conclude a performance that began before 10.00pm, but must close once the performance has finished.

Insider’s scoop: Due to the country wide curfew, 10pm is a prime pickup time regardless of location with potential riders leaving venues and pouring onto the streets.

Food Delivery

Food delivery is exempt from England’s 10pm curfew, so it’s another great way to stay on the road to keep earning. Click here to find out more about your delivery work options. And remember, with INSHUR you are automatically covered to do delivery work at no added cost.

Wherever you go to pick up passengers, make sure that both you and your rider will need to wear a face-covering. Read more about face coverings here.
