INSHUR Closes the Off-Trip Coverage Gap for Turo Hosts – Starting With Just One Car
New Period X™ coverage protects Turo hosts’ vehicles between bookings – protecting vehicles during cleaning, maintenance and personal use – with no fleet-size minimum, closing a gap to support small and new hosts.
NEW YORK – September 15th 2026 – INSHUR, a leading global provider of embedded commercial auto insurance for the on-demand economy, today announced a new partnership with Turo, the world’s largest car-sharing marketplace. INSHUR will offer Period X™, an off-rental insurance product, directly to Turo hosts. Period X fills a critical gap by protecting hosts during commercial activities between bookings like cleaning, maintenance, and vehicle staging, that typical personal insurance plans do not cover.
The announcement comes as car sharing continues to be one of the fastest-growing segments of mobility. Turo operates across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Australia and has generated $1.4 billion in host earnings across 5.5 million trips in 2025 and is still growing. As hosts look to scale their operations to meet demand, they are frequently limited by available insurance policies that actually allow car sharing as their fleets grow. Embedded commercial insurance has been built to solve this.
Period X™ is available to all Turo hosts regardless of how many vehicles they list and also permits personal use of the vehicles for up to half of the time it is off-rental. These are two meaningful distinctions for the many hosts who list fewer than three cars on the platform or who need to occasionally drive the car they list. Hosts quote and bind coverage through a self-service digital portal or calling an agent, and fleet discounts scale up as hosts grow from one car to dozens.
