GENERAL QUESTIONS

Who do you insure?

We insure TLC drivers in New York City who meet all of the following criteria:

– Over 24 years old
– Have Uber driver login credentials. As an INSHUR customer, you will be covered for all TLC driving you do, but you do need to have an Uber login
– Cars with up to 7 seats

What do you offer?

We offer annual TLC insurance coverage to drivers in New York City. Our product is 100% digital, which means you don’t need to spend time calling your broker or going through paperwork. Everything is done via our easy-to-use app, saving you time and helping you get on the road faster. Click here to download our app.

My friend wants to sign up with INSHUR, can I refer them?

Yes! If you go into the app’s dashboard, you will see a button that says “refer a driver”, click on that and it will generate a unique link for you to share with your network. You will receive a $25 gift card (to used at Amazon.com, Groupon USA or UberEats USA) for every person who signs up to the INSHUR app using the unique link you have shared. GETTING A QUOTE & BUYING A POLICY

How can I get a quote?

All of our quotes are provided within the free INSHUR app, which is available on both iOS and Android devices. Simply download our app, sign up and answer the questions.
It only takes a matter of minutes and you will receive your quote instantly.

How far in advance can I get a quote?

You can purchase a policy up to 45 days in advance of your policy start date.

Can you match or beat my quote from another insurer?

All of our quotes are calculated individually based on a large number of factors to maintain fairness and competitiveness. Therefore, quotes cannot be negotiated and are only given within the INSHUR app.
And remember, you do not need to speak to anyone to get a quote – they are all done within minutes in the app!

How long will it take for my policy to go live?

Once you have paid, your policy will be live immediately (if you selected today) and your documents will be sent to your email. If you selected your policy to start on a future date, it will be live from midnight on that date.

How do I get my insurance documents?

Your documents will be sent to you by email immediately after you pay for your policy. They are also available to you at any time via the INSHUR app.

POLICY CHANGES AND RENEWALS

Can I renew my policy in the app?

Yes, this is a great time-saving feature. Just visit the INSHUR app dashboard. It can all be completed via the app and takes only a few minutes.

I got a new car, how can I update my insurance policy?

You can purchase a policy up to 45 days in advance of your policy start date.

OUR INSURANCE COVERAGE

Will I be covered for social use?

Yes! With INSHUR, you’re automatically covered to use your vehicle for social, domestic and pleasure use too.

Why do you only insure Uber drivers?

We insure all TLC drivers on any platform, you just need an Uber driver login to sign up to our app.

Who will be my insurer?

Your policy will be underwritten by Clear Blue. They hold an excellent level of financial security so you can be assured that you have a reliable and stable insurer when you need us.

Can I add another driver to my policy?

If your policy is already live, you can head into our app and add another driver.

Do the policies sold through the INSHUR app fulfil the TLC insurance requirements?

Yes! Our policies fulfil the required levels of coverage for For-Hire Vehicles (FHV) with 1 – 7 passenger seating capacity.

PAYMENTS

What are my payment options?

You can make the full payment when purchasing your policy or, depending on our underwriting criteria, you may have the option to place a downpayment followed by monthly instalments.
If you are given the second option, you can choose a downpayment amount of 15%, 20%, 25% or 30% of your total policy cost. The remaining balance will be due over 10 months via monthly instalments.

How far in advance can I get a quote?

If you choose to pay for your insurance in installments, you will have to pay a down payment upfront. We ask for a minimum 15% down payment of your total annual premium to begin a policy with us. The total left to pay is divided into 10 installments and paid in arrears. This means that you are paying for the month after you have received cover for it. Once your premium has been paid in full, your down payment will cover you for the rest of your policy.
So, let’s look at an example. 
If you have an annual premium of $5,000 and pay the minimum 15% down payment, you will pay $750 at the time you purchase the coverage, with $4,250 premium left to pay.
$425 will be paid each month over the next 10 months with your down payment covering the cost of your final 2 months of coverage.

How do I pay?

You purchase your policy quickly and easily via our app through our secure payment system.

If I cancel my policy, will I get a refund?

If you wish to cancel your policy before the end of your policy period, you may be entitled to a refund of the premium you paid in advance. Please contact us by emailing [email protected] or calling our customer support team on +1 (866) 446-7487
