UK Uber Hotspots in February

UK Uber Hotspots in February

At INSHUR we look for ways to help you make more money – revealing where the crowds are is one of them.

Many Uber drivers will be cruising for riders in all the same old places. But that’s way too competitive. Instead, we’ve searched for different ways to cash in on the big events and make the most of other busy spots that may get overlooked. Scoop up the riders that the others never see.

With the holidays gone and January done, the UK crawls towards Spring. However, first it must get through chilly Feb. It’s the moment to make the most of the coldest month of all. Read on to see February’s UK Uber Hotspots.

London

Life in the capital is always hectic. Millions are on the move. However, even in a city with abundant public transport and the most Uber drivers in the nation, rich pickings can be had by drivers who look beyond the obvious.

Lightopia

Event: Outdoor inter-active light show.

Where: Chiswick House, Burlington Lane, Chiswick.

When: Wed 22nd Jan to Sat 1st Mar 2020.

Times: 5.00pm to 9.00pm every day.

London’s craze for lightshows extends through Feb with Lightopia at Chiswick House & Gardens. An immersive fantasy of lights and sculptures, the event  is a magnet for enthusiasts and families. Chiswick House is a long 15 mins walk from tube or train and on-site parking is limited. Uber is the obvious alternative for many night-time visitors.

Insider’s scoop: Lightopia is held on the north side of the estate’s grounds. Collect your riders at Duke Avenue Gate off Ellesmere Road. (See map).

Kew Gardens Orchid Festival

Event: UK’s biggest orchid show.

Where: Princess of Wales Conservatory, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

When: Sat 8th Feb to Sun 8th Mar 2020.

Times: 10.00am to 4.15pm every day.

Winter brings a riot of colour and scent to London when more than 5,000 species of orchid reveal their wonders at Kew Gardens. The biggest show of its kind in the UK draws thousands of botanists  to Kew’s hothouses from Feb into March. Most stay all day. Kew has almost zero parking and is serviced by slow river boats and unreliable trains. A warm taxi home will be the preferred choice of transport for many orchid-lovers.

Insider’s scoop: Kew holds special Orchids After Hours events 13/14th, 27/28th Feb and 5/6th March. These flower, food and drink celebrations run from 6.30 to 10.00pm.

Intelligent Health summit at ExCel

Event: Health + tech industry confab.

Where: Excel, Royal Victoria Docks.

When: Sun 5th Feb 2020.

Times: 7.30am to 5.30pm.

There’s usually not much action at ExCel on a Sunday morning, but on 5th Feb, thousands of health and tech industry boffins will attend the Intelligent Health summit to look at AI in medicine. ExCel is far out on the city’s fringes and only serviced by car or the DLR. After 4.00pm, expect many out-of-town attendees to be searching for a ride. Be there to solve their emergency.

Insider’s scoop: The summit is held on the west side of the ExCel complex. Pick up riders at the Western Entrance via Western Gateway.

Birmingham

The nation’s second-largest city provides abundant opportunities for drivers to make the most of the winter season. However, Brum is very much a car city, so the best sites for riders are where public parking is tough or expensive. The city centre is the place to be.

Great British Beer Festival

Event: Huge celebration of real ale.

Where: New Bingley Hall, Hockley Circus, Birmingham B18.

When: Tues 4th to Sat 8th Feb 2020.

Times: 1.00pm to 10.30pm Tues, 11.00am to 10.30pm Weds – Fri, 11.00am to 7.00pm Sat.

February gets off to a boozy start in Brum with the Great British Beer Festival, a beer and cider extravaganza. Hordes descend on New Bingley Hall to taste, sup and buy rare and popular real ales, courtesy of CAMRA. With an all-day drinking programme, wise attendees will leave their car at home. Expect surge demand when the show winds down each day.

Insider’s scoop: New Bingley Hall is in the centre of a confusing industrial zone. Pick up riders at the junction of Ford Street and Whitmore Street.

Manchester

Manchester’s events calendar is busy through the year. Rider bonanzas can be found across the city. Finding fat fares just depends on where you look.

Build it Live NorthWest

Event: Home building and DIY show.

Where: Event City, Phoenix Way, Barton Dock Road, Manchester.

When: Sat/Sun 23rd/24th Feb 2020.

Times: 10.00am to 5.00pm Sat, 10.00am to 4.30pm Sun.

Folks who like DIY or building their own house will home in on Build it Live NorthWest in Feb. Hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors will throng this annual congregation of all things buildable. Even though Event City is well-serviced by public transport, expect high demand for Uber from those too tired to take the train after walking the halls all day.

Insider’s scoop: Many exhibitors sell as well as show their products at this event. Drivers with XL vehicles can cash in on riders who purchase items that are too big for car, bus or train.

Glasgow

Scotland’s biggest city has no shortage of events to attract the crowds. Markets, shows and things to entertain create rider opportunities for the canny driver.

Scottish Cycling Running & Outdoor Pursuits Show

Event: UK’s biggest Sports expo.

Where: SEC, Glasgow.

When: Sat 29th Feb  to Sun 1st Mar 2020.

Times: 9.00am to 6.00pm each day.

The hardy people of Glasgow bid Feb farewell with a celebration of sports and fitness at the Cycling Running & Outdoor Pursuits Show. Spread throughout the giant SEC, this expo brings together hundreds of exhibitors and many thousands of visitors for one jam-packed weekend. Visitors can try, buy and see every type of sports goods there are. Most will find fighting the crowds is more than a workout. A soft ride home will be just what they need.

Insider’s scoop: Ask your rider to meet you at the taxi pick-up area outside the SEC Armadillo on Congress Way.
