UK Uber Hotspots in March

UK Uber Hotspots in March

At INSHUR we look for ways to help you make more money – revealing where the crowds are is one of them.

Many Uber drivers will be cruising for riders in all the same old places. But that’s way too competitive. Instead, we’ve searched for different ways to cash in on the big events and make the most of other busy spots that may get overlooked. Scoop up the riders that the others never see.

March winds bring hints of Spring and the UK starts to bloom. As the days get longer and the mercury rises, so the crowds begin to thicken. Drivers in the know can start the season with a bang. Read on to see the UK Uber Hotspots for the month of March.

London

Life in the capital is always hectic. Millions are on the move. However, even in a city with abundant public transport and the most Uber drivers in the nation, rich pickings can be had by drivers who look beyond the obvious.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Event: Irish celebration parade.
Where: Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square, WC2.
When: Sun 15th March.
Times: Noon to 6.00pm

The 18th London St. Pat’s Day Parade goes off in the centre of the city. 125,000 people jam Piccadilly, Pall Mall and Trafalgar Square to shake their shamrocks and dance the day away. Bands, horses, floats, jugglers and stilt walkers bring a burst of sound and colour to the middle of the month.

Insider’s scoop: There will be many riders looking for a taxi, but road closures could make getting to them tricky. Know in advance where the roadblocks are to plot a different route. Click below for the road information.
London Festival of Railway Modelling

Event: UK’s biggest model railway fair.
Where: Alexandra Palace, N22.
When: Sat 21st – Sun 22nd March.
Times: 9.30am to 7.00pm.

The glass halls of Alexandra Palace host the nation’s largest fair for model railway fans. More than 10,000 lovers of miniature trains come to see, buy and try the wares from 120 businesses. 40 large model layouts also fascinate the kids. Make tracks to north London to drive buyers home with their newly purchased treasures.

Insider’s scoop: Ally Pally is a sprawling complex, but it has only two main entrances. (See map). Meet your riders on Alexandra Palace Way from Priory Road, or on the South Terrace near Alexandra Palace overland train station.

Birmingham

The nation’s second largest city provides abundant opportunities for drivers to make the most of the winter season. However, Brum is very much a car city, so the best sites for riders are where public parking is tough or expensive.

Cruft’s Dog Show

Event: World’s biggest dog show.
Where: NEC. When: Thurs 5th – Sun 8th March.
Times: Opens at 8.15am, then closes at: 7.40pm Thurs, 7.40pm Fri, 8.10pm Sat, 9.00pm Sun.

They call it the world’s greatest dog show, which it may be, but without doubt, it’s the biggest. More than 27,000 dogs compete for a wide array of prizes and tens of thousands of dog lovers pack the halls each day to see man’s best friend at their finest. Parking is costly at the NEC and although it’s served well by train from the South, that’s not so from East, West and North. Many visitors will arrive in Birmingham city centre and need a taxi transfer to get them to and from the show.

Insider’s scoop: Day 4 on Sunday 8th is the biggest day of the whole event. Expect full capacity crowds as Best In Show is named at around 8.30pm. (See Day 4 timetable below).

Crufts Timetable

Manchester

Manchester’s events calendar is busy through the year. Rider bonanzas can be found across the city. Finding fat fares just depends on where you look.

Sausage and Cider Festival

Event: Sausages and cider fair for foodies and boozies.

Where: Victoria Warehouse, Trafford Wharf Rd, Old Trafford, Stretford.

When: Sat 15th March.

Times: Noon to 11.00pm.

If you like sausage (and who doesn’t?) and you love cider, then this is the fair for you. Craft brews, special meats, wonderful aromas and terrific tastes pull thousands through the doors to enjoy this heady festival. Expect the combination of heavy food and frothy drink to have many visitors needing a ride when the feasting’s done.

Insider’s scoop: Avoid the busy Trafford Road and meet your riders on quieter Victoria Place. (See map below).

Glasgow

Scotland’s biggest city has no shortage of events to attract the crowds. Markets, shows and things to entertain create rider opportunities for the canny driver.

C2C – Country to Country 2020

Event: UK’s biggest country music festival.
Where: SSE Hydro, Glasgow.
When: Fri 13th – Sun 15th March.
Times: 4.30pm to midnight daily.

Nashville’s most famous grace the stage at the SSE Hydro for Country to Country 2020. Over three nights, the biggest acts in country music bang out the hits for their legions of fans. Anyone who likes country will turn up to see Eric Church, Darius Rucker, Luke Combs, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Cadillac Three, Old Dominion and more. Expect sell-out crowds.

Insider’s scoop: Ask your passenger to meet you at the taxi pick-up area outside the SEC Armadillo on Congress Way.
